Weston Tennis Club Achieves Clubmark
After many months of preparation and hard work by its Committee and coaching staff Weston Tennis Club has recently been awarded Tennis Clubmark, the LTA's club accreditation scheme. This means that the LTA approves and supports the comprehensive tennis programme that the club delivers on court and recognises that it adheres to best practice around safeguarding junior and adult members/users. This is a huge achievement and means that Weston is one of a small number of clubs in the area to be accredited.
Christmas Meal - Friday 6th December 2013
We are planning a Christmas meal for Friday 6th December at Nick's Bar, 26 Knightstone Road, WsM starting at 7.30pm. There will be a 3 course meal +tea/coffee/mints, a fun awards ceremony and entertainment. The cost will be only £14.95 per person. There is a notice and a list displayed in the club house. There are already quite a few names on the list. We hope that you will be able to attend. Please pay for your ticket(s) as soon as possible. You can then make your food choices from the menu and collect your ticket(s). Food choices need to be made by 15th November. Payment should be made to either Ingrid or Maya Maxwell. Should you have any queries I am sure that they will be pleased to assist.
Men's Singles Box League
Jamie Allen has set up a singles' box league for those male members keen to play regular singles matches. There are three divisions each containing 7 players and they are displayed on the notice board in the club house. The deadline for all matches to be played is 31st January 2014. The players finishing in the bottom two places in Divisions 1 and 2 will be relegated and the players finishing in the top two places in Divisions 2 and 3 will be promoted. Please note that matches should not be played during the Thursday, Saturday and Sunday club sessions! FAMILY FUN DAY - Sunday 18th August 2013, 11am
We are holding a Fun Day on Sunday 18th August starting at 11.00am. There will be a friendly mixed doubles tournament organised and supervised by Jamie Allen with a prize for the winners. There will also be a BBQ and refreshments. The tournament is for adults and those junior members who are permitted to play with adults at club sessions.
There is a notice in the club house with a sign up sheet. The cost will be £5 per person and £2.50 for juniors under 16. Please state if vegetarian.
Clive and Ingrid Maxwell have volunteered to do the BBQ and catering. However, if you are able to help by contributing salads and cakes this will be much appreciated. Please can you let either Ingrid or me know what you can contribute.
I hope that you will be able to support the event.

Summer League - How our teams did!
Congratulations to our Men's A and C teams who both finished as champions of their divisions in the North Somerset League this year. Jamie Allen's A Team won Division 2 and Danny Gillson's C team won Division 7. Unfortunately the B team finished bottom of Division 2 and the D team were relegated from Division 8. The Ladies' A team finished mid-table in Division 6 and he B team were second last in Division 7.
As well as the NSTL summer league we also had a men’s team in area Division 1 of the Aegon National League. Jamie Allen, Mike Greedy, Lewis Taylor and Lluis Rubio won 3 of their 4 fixtures and they hope to have gained promotion to the regional division for next season.
FREE Open Day - Sunday 30th June 2013
Play for FREE anytime on Sunday 30th June 2013 from 11am to 2pm. All ages and standards including beginners welcome - junior and adults, fun and games with the LTA qualified coach, there will be also be a free prize draw to win a free coaching session. There will be free strawberries & cream on offer and also a small glass of Pimms! There will also be a speed gun (which measures your serve) and a ball machine! Rackets and other refreshments provided.
Intersport - Tony Pryce Tennis Racket Play and Test Event
Tony Pryce will be at the club from 10.30am this Sunday, 23rd June. You will have the opportunity to try out new rackets, test the latest technology, compare the difference and enjoy the fun! Ex-demo rackets will be on sale up to 50% off, plus get an extra discount and freebies if you purchase a racket on the day!
FREE National Mini-Tennis
We are hosting a FREE National Mini-Tennis event designed for 5 to 10 year olds between 1.30pm and 3.30pm on Sunday 16th June. Any youngster wanting to give mini-tennis a try can come and meet Head Coach, Jamie, and have some fun! NATIONAL MINI TENNIS WEEK 2013

Many of our members have already signed up as British Tennis Members. However, there are quite a few who have not yet done so. If you are not yet a British Tennis Member please join without delay! Membership is FREE if you elect to take only the core package. We are always keen to recruit new members. Please remember, for every new member you recruit you will receive a credit of £10 per adult, £15 per family or £2 per junior off your following year’s membership fee. National Club League
Jamie Allen has entered a men’s team in this year’s National Club League. We expect to field a strong team and it should help to raise the profile of the club. The fixtures start in April and our home matches, which include both singles and doubles, will take place on Sunday afternoons. Details will be publicised nearer the time and Jamie and the team will welcome your support.
Avon & Wiltshire YouTube Channel
Avon & Wiltshire LTA have launched a new Youtube Channel. The channel is in its early stages but will be adding videos from across the two counties. Coming soon will be interviews with players, parents, coaches, volunteers, competition organisers, tennis leaders and many more. August Summer Camp 2011
Our LTA qualified coach Jamie Allen will be taking youngsters through a variety of tennis skills. Lots of fun and games with match play and competition. The coach will also focus on other sports such as football, Swedish handball and more. This is open to juniors aged 6+. Dates: Monday 22nd August, Tuesday 23rd August & Wednesday 24th August 2011. 9am to 1pm.
Mercedes-Benz
The club is pleased to announce that Mercedes-Benz of Weston-super-Mare have agreed to give generous financial support to our juniors. This means that juniors can receive individual coaching at subsidised rates.

Please note that the deadline for entering the club tournament is 31st May 2010. All the details and lists are on the notice board in the clubhouse. We need a lot more entries, please, to make the tournament a success!

Courts and floodlights refurbishments are now complete! - 20/11/08
All five courts have been resurfaced and new floodlights have been installed.
Open Days - 01/04/08
We plan to hold Open Days on Saturday 26th April 2008 and Sunday 29th June 2008 where we hope to attract new members. The dates of other events for this year will have to be determined when we know precisely when the work to resurface the courts and replace the floodlights will be carried out.
