GRANT
We're pleased to say that our application for a grant of £250 from the Go Kids Go! project set up by the Lions Club of Weston-super-Mare and the Weston Mercury was successful. The money will be used towards the cost of purchasing mini tennis balls, rackets and other training aids for our juniors and is most welcome. We are very grateful to the Weston Lions, the Mercury and all the local businesses who put up a total prize pot of £12,000. Thank you!
Courts & Grounds
Lots of good work has been completed during the year to keep the courts and grounds in good condition. Thanks in particular must go to Mike Watson for the colourful flower displays around the Clubhouse.
With Autumn approaching we're really pleased the floodlight maintenance carried out last year will mean we can enjoy tennis even when the days get darker earlier.
Our League TeamsFor those members who like more competitive tennis ( and visiting other Clubs ) 2017 has been a great year. In the North Somerset Summer league . Our ladies 'A' team finished second in division 6. In the mens leagues our 'A' team finishing second in division 3, the 'B's second in division 5 and the 'C's third in division 7.
Club Summer Tournament- with most of the early rounds in each of the categories completed excitement is growing for Finals Day on 13th September 2017.
Open Day Thanks must go to Ian Colling, Jamie and all the other members who made the day a success. We had over 20 adults and juniors come to see what tennis is all about and enjoy the day. Even better, some have since become members and will be able to enjoy tennis with us all year round.
Social Events - A Club BBQ/Fun Tournament and a Quiz Night are planned for this year
Wimbledon Tickets - congratulations to all those members who got tickets through the Club draw. With the increasing number of juniors joining the Club maybe one day ......
